At Ritu Nanda’s prayer meet, Shweta Bachchan couldn’t control her tears as she remembered her late mom-in-law; Amitabh Bachchan and the Kapoors too got emotional
It was last week, on January 14, that the tragic news of Ritu Nanda’s demise hit the web. Ritu Nanda, the sister of actor Rishi Kapoor and mother-in-law of Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter Shweta Bachchan, reportedly passed away due to cancer. Ritu Nanda’s funeral took place in Delhi on January 15, the day after she took her last breathe and it was graced by almost the entire Kapoor and Bachchan families. Yesterday, a prayer meet was organised to pay tribute to the departed soul, the glimpse of which sees Bachchans and Kapoors getting extremely emotional.
The video begins with a music band honoring and performing a soulful track in the memory of Ritu Nanda, while the Bachchans and Kapoors are seated amid the audiences. A closer look and we see Shweta Bachchan crying her heart out. Well, this doesn’t come as a surprise, considering Shweta has been very close to her mother-in-law. Amitabh Bachchan and Ritu’s granddaughter Navya Nanda, too, was seen getting emotional. As for the Kapoors, we saw Rishi, Rajiv and Randhir sobbing and remembering their dear sister.

Not very long ago, Shweta Bachchan had dedicated a sweet post to her mother-in-law and wrote that she will miss her a lot. Big B, on the other hand, called Ritu Nanda an ideal daughter, an ideal sister, an ideal wife, an ideal mother, an ideal partner and an ideal friend. (An ideal daughter, an ideal sister, an ideal wife, an ideal mother, an ideal partner and an ideal friend, went away from us today forever. There are few moments in life that should be respected for the peace of mourning!)”
